Plant health care technician job description includes tasks that may not be part of a nurse's job. This position will work a variable schedule throughout the week with some Monday-Friday work days.

Responsibilities:

Respond to phone calls and emails, which include but are not limited to requests for assistance on a sick dog.

Respond to animal emergencies, which may include sick or injured animals.

Provide assistance for veterinary procedures including euthanasia, spaying, and neutering.

Respond to animal emergencies and provide information to the client.

Respond to questions from clients regarding the care of animals.

Assist with animal feeding.

Assist with animal behavior.

Maintain client files, perform records management, and follow up on orders.

Work with clients to help them understand what they should do if their pet is sick or injured.

Provide referrals to veterinarians.

Maintain clean and organized work space.

Assist with office duties and office organization.

Assist with administrative duties of the clinic.

Follow all state and local laws pertaining to public health and animal welfare.

Skills Required:

Ability to work with dogs and cats of all sizes.

Ability to work with and lift 25 pounds.

Working knowledge of veterinary medicine and/or animal husbandry.

Knowledge of pet care and pet behavior.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.

Associates degree in related field.

Knowledge and proficiency with computers including: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Customer service skills.

Knowledge and proficiency with veterinary record keeping, such as: electronic veterinary records, medical records, patient record keeping, and customer information management.

Ability to provide excellent customer service.

Ability to listen and communicate effectively with clients.

The ability to work well under pressure.

Ability to adapt to changing work patterns.

$18 - $25/hr

Hours Per Week

Full-time - 35 hours/week

Hours Offered

Monday - Friday 9:00AM - 5:00PM

Duties:

Maintain customer relationships through consistent and friendly communication.

Maintain accurate, timely, and concise records.

Maintain office appearance, cleanliness, and order.

Maintain a safe work environment for patients and others.

Respond appropriately to issues, concerns, and complaints from customers, clients, and co-workers.

Cooperate with the business in marketing and public relations.

Cooperate with the business to help achieve sales goals.

Adhere to established customer service standards.

Coordinate with the business to ensure adherence to marketing materials and policies.

Follow all established company procedures.

Other Duties as Assigned by Management.

Education and Experience:

Minimum of High School Graduate preferred.

Some experience in a customer service or sales environment.

Supervisory Experience Preferred.
